Update...kind of.

I don't even know what to say.

I hate December with it's candy, cookies and booze.

I haven't been to the gym in a couple weeks because of illnesses in my house and children that can't sleep.

I need my own apartment.

I'm making a plan for 2011.  And I can't stop thinking about how a year ago I started the hCG diet and lost almost 30 pounds and now I"m almost right back where I started.

I'm so mad at myself.

I'm pissed off at the clothes in my closet that no longer fit.

I'm 40 and I can't do this anymore.

The good news is that I'm still drinking less coffee and wine and I'm not drinking soda at all. I'm maintaining my weight.  TOM gave me one pound instead of four.  That's something I guess.

  1. Hey there Connie!

So I'd say if there is one thing you have learned in the past year (and i'm sure you have learned much more than just one thing...) But it's that you absolutely cannot rely on extremes. The HCG diet, while I suppose it does work for some people, is extreme and not a lifetime change. I've heard people say the diet makes it so your body wont gain the weight back but that's obviously not the case. And different extremes with what you eat, or what you wont allow yourself to eat, or a strict workout schedule that you MUST stick to... it's all just a setup for eventual failure.

I've lost about 45 lbs in the past 2 years and have been on each side of the extreme spectrum, and have had major ups and downs and all sorts of setbacks. But what has worked for me is doing whatever I can, whenever I can. Focus on getting healthy and lowfat items in my diet, and getting 30-60 minutes of exercise 3-5 times a week. It's been a slow process but 45 lbs down, I can say its been worth every bit of the effort.

  2. This time of year is so hard Connie. Once January hits you will have more energy and willpower. Plus it's hard in the winter to get up when it's dark to exercise.

Maybe we will have to get our copy of The Shred out and do it together. I plan on starting it up Jan. 1st.

  3. Let it go. Get your plan ready for 2011. Get excited about it. So you gained the weight back. Ok, that's done. It's gained. Beat yourself up for a bit and then you have to forgive yourself. What were the major issues regarding your weight gain? Could there also be foods that you're intolerant to that make you start eating more? Are there times of the day that you're are TRUELY hungry? Night time? Early day? You drink enough water? What's your workout schedule like if any? Can you get some walking time in your day? Did you plan out your meals and get everything cooked before hand? Are there things that are MUST HAVES? Chocolate? Cereal? Remember everything can be tweaked. The best diet is the one you can stick to. IF eating a cookie a day will help keep you to your plan than screw it, eat the cookie. Can it be a gluten free, low fat, no sugar cookie? Maybe you can make them yourself. Get the drift? Break down your day. Let's see what you're eating and when. Be truthful too. If you ate the whole bag chips, write it down. There might be patterns to your eating you can't see but some of us might. Don't worry, you'll lose it and keep it off.
