Week One...Baby Steps

First things first....the Weigh-In.

Starting: 214 pounds
This Week:
213 pounds

LOST 1 POUND!

The Plan from last week:

I didn't follow my plan like I had hoped. I exercised three times in the last eight days. I wish that I had done better but I didn't. I find it really difficult to get up early on the weekends and I really need to get to bed at a decent time so that I can get up. I didn't do my sit-ups and push-ups everyday either.

I did stay away from fast food....and didn't even have any over the weekend! We went out to lunch on Saturday and I stuffed myself but it was on good food, freshly prepared and I didn't eat all of my fries.

I drank more water but not as much as I had planned...still working on this one. I drank lemon water two days and I didn't notice any difference.

The Plan for this week:

  • Exercise 5 times (taking the weekend off)
  • Sit-ups and push-ups 5 times
  • Drink more water
  • Eat a Activia Yogurt everyday
  • Start taking Vitamin D everyday
  • Eat smaller portions
We have two trips coming up. In May we are taking a quick weekend trip to Denver to see David Copperfield. Then in July we are taking a family vacation with the entire Weiss Clan to Milwaukee Wisconsin for 9 days. Therefore...we have some goals.

5 Week Goal..........7.5 pounds (206.5)
16 week Goal.........24 pounds (190)

Question of the Week: What are some methods you use to stave off temptation and/or keep from overeating??

I really have to make an effort not to buy crap! There are certain things (pop tarts, bagelfuls, ice cream bars, m&ms) that if I buy them...I will devour them. If they aren't here I do really well.

As far as overeating...I rarely do that anymore (said by the gal that ate herself to sickness on Saturday). I have gotten really good about eating small portions and we generally use the smaller salad plates instead of the bigger dinner plates. This makes a big difference!

  3. Congrats on the weight loss!! That is so exciting!

And I love how you've re-adjusted your goals to make them more realistic for yourself. I think it's good to give yourself a couple days off on the workouts.

i say keep drinking that water too! Try Crystal Light. That's what i drink a lot b/c i get tired of plain ole water.

  4. Congrats!! 1 lb is great. I worked out 6x this week and ended up only losing .4 lbs. It's better than nothing but a lot of effort for a little pay off.

    Much love from NJ,

  5. Great tips! 1 lb is still a loss! Water for me is definitely the key! How can you help but lose weight when you have to run to the bathroom every 20 minutes?!

  7. Hey! Congrats on your 1 lb. loss!! I think eating on a smaller plate is a good tip! I do that sometimes, but need to more often! Good luck on reaching your goals! You can do it!

  8. I chew gum (when I think of it!) to keep from snacking when I shouldn't. And I read that if you're hungry, drink 8 oz of water because you may just be thirsty. You can do it :-)

  9. I just wrote this long, supportive comment and then managed to lose it. So annoying (this has happened to everyone right?)

Here is the short version: I have total faith in you and look forward to following your progress.

Still bitter about losing my kick ass comment. I need to go write something for my own blog now...

  10. Good job Connie! What good goals! It is hard to drink enough water during the day. I am trying to get better at that too.

You are off to a great start. I know you will make your goal!

    XOXO

  12. I'm so proud of you for taking your Vitamin D!!

Make sure you're taking at least 10,000 IU daily... that increased my energy immensely when I started taking it.

I'm with you on the need to feel better!

Let me know what I can do to help- I'm a great motivational texter :)

  13. Get yourself moving girl!!! I've been really good and I find myself sticking to it because I can totally tell a difference in my energy level throughout the day. I still try to take a nap every day but it's much shorter and I'm way less tired when I wake up. And...we have a cruise at the end of June and I'm NOT looking forward to putting on a bathing suit. :(

  14. Pat yourself on the back for those 3 times that you did exercise. Something is always better than nothing! Great job on eating smaller portions. That's my problem. I always get too much and still go back for seconds (sometimes thirds).

  15. have raw vegetables- cut up at every meal, like red bell papper, cucumber, baby carrots, cherry tomates, etc. Eat one in between every bite of your meal. slow down on your eating. I found that I was eating easily TWICE the portion size I should have been... it has made a huge difference for me. Also be sure to eat a decent breakfast- I am talking good for you, not eggs and bacon. Not eating breakfast is bad bad bad. I eat a mix of fiber one and cheerios every morning and while it is not the most exciting thing to eat, it is really good for you. Controlling your portion sizes, increasing your fiber and eliminating as much sugar as possible are my tips. My husband lost 30 pounds over the past four months and I am down to my pre-children weight (I did not have as much to lose as he did) and it has not been super easy, but it is doable. It is totally a mind over matter situation and once you get your mind on board you will be unstoppable!
